Welcome. I’m happy to see you here.
Alicia Hubbard, MT-BC
Owner, Board Certified Music Therapist
I am Alicia Hubbard, board certified music therapist and the owner of Maple City Music Therapy.
Maple City Music Therapy is a music therapy agency serving many counties throughout New York State including Livingston, Steuben and Wyoming counties. Maple City Music Therapy is run by a board-certified music therapist and partners with many local agencies. Services may be provided to children, teens, adults and elderly in an individual or group setting.
Our mission is to provide quality music therapy services to the community and to increase access to services by advancing the public’s awareness of the benefits of music therapy as well as continue to expand into rural communities. Another mission is to develop collaborative relationships with other service health providers in the area.
The Approach
Maple City Music Therapy provides programs that address special needs of persons living with physical and/or developmental challenges. The owner as well as the team of Maple City Music Therapy music therapists provide consultation, direct service (assessments, program development, implementation, and evaluation), education/ training, and community presentations.
Music therapy is a person centered therapy meaning our approach is what our clients need. This can change session by session and even moment by moment. Music therapists are trained to improvise utilizing the iso-principle and meeting our clients where they are at any given moment.
It’s important to find a therapist that’s a good fit. Let’s chat!
Maple City Music Therapy is looking for more music therapists to join our team as well as expanding services within the area. If you think you are the right fit for our rural area team or if you are in search of music therapy services, please connect with us below!
See the difference with music therapy.
Music affects multiple areas of the brain at one time. Music therapists spend 4 years in an undergrad program then complete a 1200 hour internship. Following the completion of internship, music therapists take a board certification exam and then recertify every 5 years. Music therapists are trained in music (various forms) as well as take courses in psychology and anatomy.
